Deborah Bateson is the Medical Director at Family Planning NSW and has worked as a clinician, researcher and educator in the field of sexual and reproductive health for over 18 years. Deborah holds the honorary positions of Clinical Associate Professor in the Discipline of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology at The University of Sydney and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society at La Trobe University in Victoria. She has collaborated on a wide range of cervical cancer prevention research projects, is a member of the Member of the National Cervical Screening Program Quality and Safety Monitoring Committee and was involved in the development of the Guidelines for the management of screen-detected abnormalities. Deborah is the immediate past Co-chair of the Australasian Sexual Health Alliance and is dedicated to improving equitable access to high quality reproductive and sexual health information and services across Australia. She has published widely and frequently provides expert commentary to the media.
